![]() my settings as follows and seem to have pretty decent smooth fps/graphics. I put it to the bottom, which renders the mirror a blank gray. (If there are war thunder players, when I load it up and activate VR mode. ĮDIT 2: There's a setting to turn mirror graphics settings down in the graphics menu. I gotta look and see if there's a way to force the mirrors off. I'm not sure that'll hold up in all maps and planes yet - some maps tend to drop my frames heavily, and P-38s tend to drop my frames as well, I think because they have a mirror - but on that match it ran flawlessly.ĮDIT: Aaaaand sure enough, the P-38 tanks my frames. I found that by setting SteamVR resolution to 140 percent and then dropping the IN-GAME resolution setting to the half-way point, I was able to get very crisp visuals compared to running at 100% in SteamVR and full resolution in-game, and still maintain a locked 80 FPS. So I go back and forth on which is better.Įven with those low settings War Thunder often drops frames, but it's way better than other flight sims and I can usually get a relatively smooth experience.Īctually, ignore my original resolution setting! Inspired by this question, I did some playing around with settings today. Problem is I then have to deal with aliasing shimmer. HQ FXAA currently, but sometimes I have AA off entirely to get a crisper image. In-game settings are set to mostly low, with clouds in flight set to high, and textures to high. So I target a locked native framerate without motion smoothing. It makes identifying them and reading their aspect much harder. Other people seem fine with 40 fps via motion smoothing (or you can set the Index to 120 hz and it will be halved to 60 fps) but I find that I just can't stomach the smeariness that motion smoothing brings, especially to aircraft. Low or dropped frames are very disruptive in VR and seriously interfere with my OODA loop, lol. Yes, that's low and blurry, but steady frames are more important to me. So I set the Index to run at 80 hz in SteamVR settings, and disable motion smoothing, since that will halve the framerate any time frames are dropped. (If there are war thunder players, when I load it up and activate VR mode, it restarts, loads back up and VR mode is still off, doesn’t even try to start it.I use a borrowed Index currently. If it helps anymore too it seems that pretty much any other game doesn’t recognize my headset. I’m pretty much at the point of thinking that I can’t play with my quest 2 and might have to get rid of it for something else that will actually work if there is such a thing. I have GTX 1080 ti connected to 4K monitor. ![]() It is really a new experience for War Thunder ultra settings. Don’t know what else to try, I have watched tons of videos, read forums, can’t find anything that helps me. I have FXAA maxed out but what ever settings I choose it all looks the same. Regardless I’m left playing the game in what looks like a movie theater.Īirlink is a total loss, same issues as the first one with oculus link, crashes and the graphics are way worse given my router is far away, I can’t change that. Loading with steam VR pretty much has the same effect but it seems to be less smooth and more of a pain to figure out how to actually get the game to pop up on my quest. (I’ve tried the whole registry editor thing and it seems like everything is as it should be in my reg). Virtual Desktop seems extremely promising but when I try to play off that, starting the game through the VD interface without steam VR, it won’t “find my headset” when switching to VR. I haven’t tested this enough to know if the times it has worked are flukes or not though. It seems that it crashes in bigger area maybe? When I try to fly out of my local rural airport it seems to work but anything slightly bigger crashes me. When I would try with the link, it crashes on the same spot about 90% done loading a flight every time I play. The first day it worked pretty well, I’d connect using oculus link, some minor bugs but ok graphics and so on. In the last three or so days I’ve tried to pick it back up to even worse issues. I played for a while and left it because I was too busy. Right click on game properties and uncheck the theatre mode. When I got it it worked pretty well albeit I couldn’t figure out much with graphics settings that would make it look decent without becoming unplayable. So I got my Quest 2 months ago to play pretty much flight sims exclusively.
